Post #32 : The Power of the Force!

The power of the force! Now I know how people can be easily influenced or defeated in Star Wars...the force is such a strong stuff! Even stronger if it come from your own mother! -___-"

She was saying that I should probably start the 4 feet aquarium faster, in fear of the canister filter will ruin if being left off for so long. Although there are some truth in her words, but I know she can't wait for her favourite fish, the Angelfish! Previously, had one Angelfish, but it was shy, maybe due to I'm a noob fish keeper or the aquarium environment itself. But it died after almost one year staying with us.

So, today I've filled up the 4 feet aquarium with water and begin the cycling process..it would take weeks for the eheim canister to be cycled but I'll wait for about a week before adding the sand (still debating what kind of sand or should I use soil) and the another week before adding the fish. Alhamdulillah, I have 2 DIY filter running in current aquarium so I would be able to transfer them and jump start my aquarium! Yay!!!!

Top left - Marble Angelfish || Top right - Koi Angelfish || Bottom - Platinum Angelfish
Ok, my plan for the aquarium would be like this :
-For substrate, I think it would be the silica sand
-For the plants, I think I would put Echinodorus quadricostatus, Echinodorus amazonicus,Anubias barteri, and Java Fern. Do google those terms if you want further information.
-For the fish, I have two situation.
If I get two Angelfish - 7 Congo Tetra, A Dwarf Gourami, 6 Corydoras, and a German Blue Ram
If I get four Angelfish - 5 Rainbow Fish, 6 Corydoras, 15 Rummynose Tetra
However, these setup is not final..but I do know that I will add the Angelfish last.

I would love to keep more, but the space will be limited, unless I get a 8 feet aquarium! Hahaha

Post #30 : New Member! [again]

So, I've added another 10 Tiger Barb to the existing school! The aquarium now really look alive with colours and activities! I love it!

As I mention earlier, I wanted to add the albino Tiger Barb. At the fish store I also came across the Jade Tiger Barb which I thought look beautiful with the other Tiger Barb!

Yellow Tiger Barb
I couldn't find picture for the Jade Tiger Barb. If I manage to capture the picture of them in my aquarium, I'll post it here for sure! The Jade Tiger Barb colour look like the Green Tiger Barb but the colour is so so light, totally different then the others.

Alhamdulillah, the look amazing in that aquarium. I have now 3 DIY filter in that aquarium powered by two air pump. Of course, two of it are for the bigger aquarium I am yet to setup, just cultivating the good bacteria so that I can jump start the big aquarium without going to the cycling process. Hehe..

So, as the title, I have made a very simple filter for the aquarium! First, see the picture below.

Well, the filter consist of a plastic bottle (preferrably one with wide mouth), ceramic media, airline and air pump. Simple right? And it is easy to do it too! I came across a video of doing this at Youtube and think what a great idea! This filter is very convenient during power outage, you just have to switch from electrical air pump to a battery powered air pump. As the person in the video (I'll post below) said, this could save your fish life!

Since I couldn't embed it here, click on the link -------->http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DXDzgM9x3tc

Just listen and follow the instruction step by step. Really great DIY project! :)

Today I've added 5 new member to the 2.5 feet aquarium! 5 Green Tiger Barb, same species with different colours and pattern!

Green Tiger Barb. Picture taken from http://www.aquariumdomain.com/viewSpeciesFreshwater.php?id=94

The colour is really different from the normal Tiger Barb, however the behaviour is the same, nipply, active little fish!

Next I'm going to add another 5 more member, making it 20 in total. Another variety of the Tiger Barb, which is the Albino Tiger Barb! Really pretty too :)

I think I'm going to buy them next week, can't wait! Of course the aquarium isn't complete yet as I still want to do some changes to it.

You may read Part 1 here.

Despite my determination to move away and convert to full time study mode, it didn't happen. Still in the part time mode, that take 5 years to finish my degree ._____.

However, I think this is for the best. Allah have planned my life and I trust everything to Him.

So for now, I will, Insha-Allah, study hard for my degree. I still unemployed however I don't think it should stop me. This my opportunity to focus on my study and my almost-daily gym activity. Yes, beside getting the dean's list, I am determine to lose much much more weight!! :D

Furthermore this semester I only have 1 final exam paper, the 4.0 future seem so clear, yet I can't be to sure or arrogant! Study smart!!

The path have been laid before me, it is time for me to take the step forward, constantly looking back to remind me all the mistakes that I have made :)

Post #25 : Reviving the Hobby

The hobby mention here is fish keeping! Before cancer, I had a 4 feet normal dimension tank of tropical fish, with sands and plants! And then cancer happen. I just left the inhabitants of the aquarium to die, only feeding them once a day :(

Now, since cancer is not a barrier to do vigorous work anymore, I've decided to continue this hobby of mine! I've started with the 2.5 feet length with 1.5 feet height and width aquarium. The 4 feet is empty for now.

Miraculously, 5 Java fern that I had neglected in the messy, smelly, greenish aquarium survive like it was nothing. So does the 1 blue gourami and 10 tiger barb! The inhabitant that didn't survive was 1 angelfish (too sad when it die), 2 blue gourami, 2 black molly, 5 jullie corydoras. I was too weak to do anything that time, can't rely on others to do it. Anyway the thing already happen, and I look forward to this new beginning!

The 2.5 feet tank was originally planned for a pair of blue german ram, however plan often changed. Now it houses 4 Java fern with 10 tiger barb!

The water was still cloudy, thanks to the sand

I began setting up this aquarium last Wednesday (17 October).  Since it's small, it's not really a problem setting it up.

Taken on 18/10/12. The water is much clearer than before!
The problem I have with this particular tank is the filter. The powerhead sucks in the water too fast, and the top filter can handle all the water resulting leaking water from the filter. Luckily I was home with my father, and we were able to stop it from getting out of control. We drilled 8 extra hole in the top filter and voila! no problem!

My plan for this aquarium :
1)Add another 15 tiger barb (maybe the green & albino variety)
2)Add some rocks or cave for hiding
3)Add more Java fern

I would not add other fish since the current is strong and tiger barbs are really notorious fin nippers!!

Well, the month of Ramadhan did change me! Alhamdulillah!

Several month neglecting this blog, I feel obliged to maintain it and update it regularly now! New semester have begun, still only four subject per semester. Still no job. Flu is a norm. No sign of cancer(so far). Looking forward for a healthy life!

I'm actually very excited with this semester since we are going to publish a magazine! I don't even know why, since I have no idea how to organise the materials, let alone how to publish it! But that's why we learn, no? :)

Aidilfitri 2012 was normal. I can't eat many of the food served but its cool. I'm not even bothered by it. What's important that is the bond we strengthen that day! The same scenario for open houses. I know I can't anything, and this often make the host feel bad for not remembering my condition. However, a brief explaining and convincing settle everything. After all, to lose weigh, its not about what you eat, its what you don't eat! Pretty much like me! Haha

Now, 2012 is coming to the end in a two month! Time fly so fast! Allah, That's why we musn't waste time my friends! I think this is it for now.

Post #23 : Wonder, Wondered, Wondering

Wonder
What will happen if I take up full time study instead of part time like now?

Wondered
My financial is not strong. Huh, even my parents could use come cash right now. Should I look for a job instead?

Wondering
How's life going to change, especially during Ramadhan. For now during the day, I didn't go out at all. Full time study, there will be classes I need to attend, activities to do and so on.

Insya-Allah, with the help from Allah, I will make the right decision.

Third day of this holy month! Alhamdulillah, I am still able to fast, all thanks to Allah the Merciful! Today, I finished the book Imam-Imam Yang Benar and alhamdulillah, the story of four great imam of Ahlus Sunnah Waljamaah greatly moved me. They faced so many hardship in their journey to uphold Islam. Masya-Allah, may Allah bless them.

I spend almost the entire day finishing up the book I mention earlier. Mouth still dry as ever. With dry mouth came phlegm. Yucky stuff really, but I have to get used to it. Every time I woke up it's the same scenario. Only different this time is, it happen when I am awake. My mouth get all sticky and uncomfortable. But all of that is nothing compared to the blessing of being able to fast in this holy month of Ramadhan

Alhamdulillah, I am able to perform the terawikh prayer tonight. Hopefully I will stay strong throughout the month to continuously perform the terawikh prayer, Insya-Allah.

May Allah bless me and all of you in this holy month. May He forgive all of our sins and guide us to the right path, Insya-Allah.

Ramadhan Mubarak to all Muslim! Second day into Ramadhan..just like a normal day for me, except I can't drink. This is quite a challenge since I need to drink frequently to keep my tongue and apparently my throat hydrated.

1 Ramadhan 1433H
Ramadhan started excellent for me. Went for terawikh prayer on Friday and fast on Saturday. I don't feel hungry at all, thanks to cancer I guess since I can't eat and only drink specially formulated milk. So, I'm used not to eating. Alhamdulillah, no feeling of fainting whatsoever!

Though my mouth and tongue does get really really dry. The side effect of radiotherapy that I have to deal for the rest of my life. I constantly have to gargle the solution for dry mouth the doctor gave me. Actually, they advised me not to fast it my mouth hurt. But, I can do it, but no talking and no going out door during fasting. Hahaha.

As for sahur, I tried eating congee my mother made (I love you Ma), but couldn't eat it. I settled with the formulated milk. For ifthor, I ate fried pasta and didn't hate the taste! Alhamdulillah! After Maghrib, we went to the mosque for Isyak and terawikh. Turn out, the mosque organise a simple tahlil before the terawikh, and it is planned for every night throughout Ramadhan. They did a full tahlil before ifthor at the mosque.

And I didn't watch tv or movies or Facebook that day. I keep on reading this book entitled "Imam yang Benar". The book narrated about the life of four great Imam of Ahlul Sunnah Waljamaah.

2 Ramadhan 1433H
For sahur today, I only drink the milk. I fell asleep after Subuh prayer since I did not sleep since last night. I don't know why I couldn't sleep for two days straight! Maybe it's a sign for me to utilize this holy month to the fullest..but being me, I ignore it :(

I still continuing my book from yesterday. It have 690 pages, good luck me! Haha. And no tv or movies for me. I hope I will able to uphold this no-tv-movies self ban until the end of Ramadhan or maybe longer :)

I actually hope to go out and buy some bookshelf and study table for my room but since my mouth is like the Sahara Desert, I wouldn't be appropriate for me to go out and gargle water in public, since it is actually makruh! If I stay quite and talk to no one, I wouldn't even need to gargle anything. Though at some point I have to because the pain become quite unbearable.

-Edit-
Didn't go to terawikh tonight. Mom and dad too. After Maghrib I fell asleep and just woke up. Feeling too tired today, don't know why though. But in any case, I hope to utilize tonight to the fullest, Insya-Allah

So, I am more determined than ever to go to full time study mode. I just can't wait to get out from this house. this place, this area!! Though from here to Kedah is only like, 500km (yes, so near, I know) I'm still hype about it! The thought of going away for 3 years and live there is very refreshing indeed!

Now, I can continue my study part time but it would take 5 years to complete my goddamn degree! Plus, I don't want to work for the time being, therefore I think it is the best decision that I can make. Actually there are many factors contributed to my decision making. Most of it are personal matter and wouldn't be nice to let the whole world know about it. Suffice to say, I hate the place I', living now and I want to go somewhere else. Oh, that is the number 1 factor in my decision making!

Well, let me finish my last paper this coming Saturday and next week I'll go to the part time department and ask them. I just hope everything went smooth. Insya-Allah.

This person is a caretaker since the beginning of time,
It was said that the Emperor of China has the same caretaker,
Though this person is a servant of the house and responsible for all the housework,
But this person is also a teacher that the whole family respect,
When this person is alive, the whole world is secure,
When this person dies, the whole world would be flooded.

Can you guess who is this person?

I remembered my lecturer saying that personal blogging are useless, nobody does that kind of blogging anymore. Now people blog to gain money and fame! Well, I'll be damn! A lecturer saying this kind of thing!

Well, majority of people do aim for fortune and fame with blogging, but not me. This is place of sharing and bashing, and life sharing too. Hahaha.

I still have one paper left and then I will be free from semester 2 of my study! And guess what, the lecturer said the notes was too old, and didn't give anything at all to read about this subject and that is the same lecturer who said personal blogging are useless..well, you're useless! Ooops!

I'm still jobless, I have no idea what to do with my life. Maybe everything will be decided after the final say from the doctor about my cancer.

Oh, I've been downloading movies, well HD movies and my 1TB external hard disk is almost full! I really have to find a way to make money to buy a new external hard disk as well as a new laptop since the one I'm currently using is old and the speaker is not working anymore, plus the laptop get hot after 5 minute I switch it on.

Money. Money. Money.

Sick? Money! Need new laptop? Money! Marriage? Money! Eh? Hahahaa

Post #13 : Ways of Eating Fruits

We all think eating fruits means just buying fruits, cutting it and just popping it into our mouths. It's not as easy as you think. It's important to know how and when to eat.

What is the correct way of eating fruits?

IT MEANS NOT EATING FRUITS AFTER YOUR MEALS! * FRUITS SHOULD BE EATEN ON AN EMPTY STOMACH.

If you eat fruit like that, it will play a major role to detoxify your system, supplying you with a great deal of energy for weight loss and other life activities.

FRUIT IS THE MOST IMPORTANT FOOD. Let's say you eat two slices of bread and then a slice of fruit. The slice of fruit is ready to go straight through the stomach into the intestines, but it is prevented from doing so.

In the meantime the whole meal rots and ferments and turns to acid. The minute the fruit comes into contact with the food in the stomach and digestive juices, the entire mass of food begins to spoil.

So please eat your fruits on an empty stomach or before your meals! You have heard people complaining — every time I eat watermelon I burp, when I eat durian my stomach bloats up, when I eat a banana I feel like running to the toilet, etc — actually all this will not arise if you eat the fruit on an empty stomach. The fruit mixes with the putrefying other food and produces gas and hence you will bloat!

Graying hair, balding, nervous outburst, and dark circles under the eyes all these will NOT happen if you take fruits on an empty stomach.

There is no such thing as some fruits, like orange and lemon are acidic, because all fruits become alkaline in our body, according to Dr. Herbert Shelton who did research on this matter. If you have mastered the correct way of eating fruits, you have the Secret of beauty, longevity, health, energy, happiness and normal weight.

When you need to drink fruit juice - drink only fresh fruit juice, NOT from the cans. Don't even drink juice that has been heated up. Don't eat cooked fruits because you don't get the nutrients at all. You only get to taste. Cooking destroys all the vitamins.

But eating a whole fruit is better than drinking the juice. If you should drink the juice, drink it mouthful by mouthful slowly, because you must let it mix with your saliva before swallowing it. You can go on a 3-day fruit fast to cleanse your body. Just eat fruits and drink fruit juice throughout the 3 days and you will be surprised when your friends tell you how radiant you look!

KIWI: Tiny but mighty. This is a good source of potassium, magnesium, vitamin E & fiber. Its vitamin C content is twice that of an orange.

APPLE: An apple a day keeps the doctor away? Although an apple has a low vitamin C content, it has antioxidants & flavonoids which enhances the activity of vitamin C thereby helping to lower the risks of colon cancer, heart attack & stroke.

STRAWBERRY: Protective Fruit. Strawberries have the highest total antioxidant power among major fruits & protect the body from cancer-causing, blood vessel-clogging free radicals.

ORANGE: Sweetest medicine. Taking 2-4 oranges a day may help keep colds away, lower cholesterol, prevent & dissolve kidney stones as well as lessens the risk of colon cancer.

WATERMELON: Coolest thirst quencher. Composed of 92% water, it is also packed with a giant dose of glutathione, which helps boost our immune system. They are also a key source of lycopene — the cancer fighting oxidant. Other nutrients found in watermelon are vitamin C & Potassium.

GUAVA & PAPAYA: Top awards for vitamin C. They are the clear winners for their high vitamin C content.. Guava is also rich in fiber, which helps prevent constipation. Papaya is rich in carotene; this is good for your eyes.

Drinking Cold water after a meal = Cancer! Can u believe this?? For those who like to drink cold water, this article is applicable to you. It is nice to have a cup of cold drink after a meal. However, the cold water will solidify the oily stuff that you have just consumed. It will slow down the digestion. Once this 'sludge' reacts with the acid, it will break down and be absorbed by the intestine faster than the solid food. It will line the intestine. Very soon, this will turn into fats and lead to cancer. It is best to drink hot soup or warm water after a meal.

I get an email regarding this. And I totally agree! Prophet Muhammad S.A.W have been eating fruits before every meal thousands of years ago. This way of eating may spare you from cancer...It just may. You got nothing to lose if you try it.

29 June 2012. My first of two paper. Well, kind of lazy to memorise everything. But this subject only have 5 chapter. Good God, I have no idea what is wrong with me. The past year question is not easy at all and I'm still lazy?

Well, writing about it here doesn't help either way. Maybe I need to pull the last second study stunt?

Post #9 : Date with doctor

Today went to UMMC (University Malaya Medical Centre) for a follow-up checkup. If you read -me-, you would know that I had nasopharyngeal cancer.

So went there around 1.30pm since the appointment is at 2pm. Long story short, the doctor said the are still many crusting inside my nose due to the radiotherapy. Thus, I was advised to clean my nose with the given medicine.

My last checkup the doctor said she saw the remaining tumor is still there. But since there are so many crusting, she couldn't be sure. Since there are no confirmation, I feel confuse. Actually I don't know what to feel. What if I have to undergo for a new radiotherapy session? I don't know, I really don't.

Well, we'll see in 2 weeks time. Hopefully it will be better.

Ok, see the picture? What is your first thought after seeing it?

My thought after seeing this picture? Well, at first it was funny. After that I was smacked by the reality. The majority of Facebook users have hundreds to thousands of "friends" in their friend list. Sometime I can't help but to wonder, do this person really know all those people in the friend list?

According to Oxford Dictionary a friend means a person with whom one has a bond of mutual affection, typically one exclusive of sexual or family relations. So, the question here is, have you met your Facebook friend in real life? Do you have that bond of mutual affection?

I myself only have 157 people in my friend list. But I do know all of them. I've met 99% them before and these people have become part of my life at some point. The 1%? Well, I'm friend with them because they constantly remind me of reality, of who am I. Though I've never met them, I am still thankful for that.

From this picture, I can conclude that I should find those who would care for me as I would take care of them, have the same feeling I have for them, those that I can trust as they trust me.

How about you? Do you have friends like this?

e-PJJ stands for elektronik pengajian jarak jauh or in English, it is simply part time studying. Well, I'm doing my degree in e-PJJ mode. The students in this mode are allowed to take 4 subject maximum per semester, and it would take up to 5 years to complete the degree course. It may be a long period but usually those who take e-PJJ are working folks.

Since I've got fired because of my cancer, I was thinking to go to full time mode. I just can't concentrate in the e-PJJ mode. Plus, my classmates isn't very close to me. I know I'm not open and it is not my style to go ho ha here and there. I didn't even have their facebook. I practically have to begged one of them to add me at facebook. Seriously, I begged! And recently I found out that they have a course group at facebook. And all this while they never bother to mention anything to me.

Lucky me, since I found the group by chance! I would have miss a lot of thing if I didn't found the group in time. When I say I'm going full time mode, none of them really care. True, since we're not close, why would they care? Hahaha!! Anyway, After the final exam, I'm hoping to change my status from part time student to full time student. And I'm hoping to do my full time student at UiTM Kedah. I rather die if I have to do it in UiTM Puncak Perdana. Why? Because that's the place where I'm taking my part time class. I don't even want to see the lecturers!

If you anyone want to do e-PJJ study, advise them to be strong will and patient. They will face so much crap from the students, lecturers and management.

Well, thank you for reading my rambling. Hahaha

Picture from Bernama

The haze is back in Klang Valley. Yesterday was the worst I think. In the picture, you can barely see the Petronas Twin Tower. It is reported that the haze started because of the fire from Sumatra, mainly caused by farmers and plantation company. Even some part of Indonesia were affected as well.

Now, haze is like an annual thing. You just got to be prepare for it. Always have the relevant product and medicine with you all the time.

As for me, like other day in my life, I just stay inside the house. But I got to admit my skin is itchy, and I sneeze way too much! Alhamdulillah, this morning the rain poured down heavily, clearing the sky and freshen up everyone, I believe. However, I still can see the haze, though not as thick as before. We'll just have wait for it to settle down. No other choice, except by taking precaution such wearing facial mask or keeping your asthma medicine with you (if you have asthma) and so on. I've read on Facebook, the haze have arrived at the nothern part of Malaysia too. Well, they do "go with the flow". Hang on tight everyone, the haze is not here forever.

Post #2 : Renovation in Progress..

This blog is still under construction. Currently working the header and I'm just can't find a name for this blog. Bleh, I'll figure it out later. About the header, it's going to be a simple one. Nothing too fancy since I can't do anything fancy anyway. Seriously, what name is suitable for this damn blog?! Aarghhh!!

EDIT

I think it's cool. Okay, it's official then! Now, I just need a nice header...blergh

I've deleted my old blog. Why? Because after reading everything in my old blog, I feel stupid. Now, new beginning. I think it's appropriate with my cancer and everything. New beginning in life.
